A word from Montage:

"Between informal happy hours and organized company meetings, we have a lot of fun as a team here at Montage. Each summer, our families take over a picnic area in a park in Brookfield to share a meal, play a kickball game, and spend a few hours outside of work getting to know each other's spouses and children better. Within the 40-person company, we probably have 60 kids under 16.

Recently, we were in a battle for a new account. The sales director wanted to show our commitment to this new potential client by creating a video to show the team's support and excitement having them join the "Montage family." Within 2 hours, we shot and edited and delivered a 4-minute video featuring people within Montage welcoming this new client aboard in both a serious way and an extremely unorthodox, fun way. From the engineers' dance moves to the backflips off the stoop outside, the client saw that we are a fun-loving energetic organization!"

Montage offers these services and amenities to employees who are parents to help make their lives easier:

Employee's kids are in and out of this building regularly. We are constantly showing off newborns or bringing kids in to deliver girl scout cookies. They are always welcome and are given attention when they visit.

The surrounding community is rich with walking and biking trails, and picturesque lakes. There are also cute boutiques and cafes all within walking distance of our building. Our CEO's preferable method of conducting one-on-ones when the weather is nice is to walk.

The office is fully stocked with Coca Cola products in the fridge for everyone's consumption. Coffee is plentiful and free. Our kitchen is full service with a fridge, microwave, and oven. We stock the cupboards with paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware, salt and pepper and more. We encourage our employees to bring their own water bottles to work as we have invested in a water filtration system that provides fresh, cold drinking water for us. There's never a day in the office without chocolate available for everyone.

Montage offers quiet areas to collaborate in small groups, think, or take a break at their headquarters.

Montage flies in their field-based employees at least once a year for a meeting that includes a social, team building event. Once a month, Montage caters lunch for their employees for a remote meeting with the Executive team members. Montage also annually picks two different volunteer options that employees can choose to participate. Every year, employees at Montage take over a picnic space in Brookfield and enjoy the day together with their team members and respective families.

Extreme Perks

Montage pays for at least 70 percent of the individual health insurance for their full-time employees that are eligible.

The Montage benefits package pays 100 percent of an employees' medical premium up to $500.

Montage offers part-time / flex-time employees full-time health care benefits if they work at least 30 hours a week.

Montage offers a 401(k) plan to all eligible employees, regardless of their hours.

Montage offers more than one health insurance option to employees who are eligible.

A word from Montage:

"About 30% of our workforce is part-time and have the availability to adjust their schedule as needed to accommodate family or other personal matters. Here at Montage we believe in supporting the success of others and will take on our co-worker's tasks so they can rest assured that their time away won't affect the company's performance or their position.

Our full-time, salaried employees are expected to get their job done. Schedules and hours are not monitored. Our team members perform their work around their busy lives as needed. The same rules apply as mentioned above for our part-time team. Our full-time team will cover for each other so individuals can enjoy vacation time fully or exit to take care of family emergencies or events."

Montage offers the following non-traditional work arrangements to their employees:

  • Project only work assignments - defined beginning and end time/goals
  • Seasonal work for summer and/or holidays

At Montage, we open our doors to talented young people who are eager to explore the "real world" through work experience. We employed Henry through his senior year at Whitewater as a paid intern. Upon graduation, he joined the company for 30 hours per week within Marketing. After learning of her pregnancy, another employee felt comfortable asking for extended time off to spend with her newborn and her 2-year old. She recently returned to a part-time flexible schedule in a new role within Development. We have welcomed back our summer intern from UW-Whitewater the past three summers. We currently have another paid intern with us this summer.

The following scheduling options are available to hourly (non-salaried) employees at Montage:

  • Choose beginning and end hours (9am-5pm or 8am-4pm)
  • Choose the number of hours in a day (5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days)
  • Work a reduced schedule during a certain time of the year
  • Job share (two part-time employees share one full-time position) - case-by-case basis
  • Change from full-time to part-time while remaining in the same position or level - case-by-case basis
  • Decide which shift they work - case-by-case basis
  • Choose when they take regular and meal breaks
  • Take time off during the workday to attend to important family or personal needs without losing pay
  • Control the amount of overtime they work
  • Work a guaranteed minimum number of hours per week.

Montage values family and strongly believes it is important to take whatever time is necessary to attend those family events even if they occur during "normal" work hours. Team members are adults committed to their roles. They are trusted to work hard and enjoy whatever flexibility is needed in order to maintain that work/life balance.

Hourly employees know their regular work schedule 4+ weeks in advance.

Hourly employees have a set schedule but can request time off or a change in schedule if needed. The schedule is set, but remains fluid to move and adjust as needed - even at a moment's notice. For example, an hourly team member's father was diagnosed with a terminal illness which required her to increase her availability to the family. Montage accommodated by allowing her to work the hours that fit into her family's schedule. The team rallied to cover her job duties as needed.

Hourly employees are aware that they need to work overtime 1 - 2 weeks in advance.

When overtime is needed, Montage sends out a schedule in advance so the impacted employees can pick and choose which shifts they want.

The following scheduling options are available to salaried employees at Montage: 

  • Choose beginning and end hours (9am-5pm or 8am-4pm)
  • Allow salaried employees to work a part-time schedule - case-by-case basis
  • Choose the number of hours in a day (5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days)
  • Work a reduced schedule during a certain time of the year - case-by-case basis
  • Job share (two part-time employees share one full-time position) - case-by-case basis
  • Change from full-time to part-time while remaining in the same position or level - case-by-case basis
  • Work from home occasionally or regularly
  • Resources are provided to remote employees
  • Work from an alternative location to accommodate a family need
  • Decide how many hours they work in a week

A great majority of Montage employees have small children which require them to have days to accommodate doctor visits and school performances. Montage also has remotely located sales professionals who work at home full-time.

The following tools are available to promote flexibility in the workplace, enable employees, and offer a variety of tools to help facilitate working together:

  • Company provided smartphones
  • Company subsidized smartphone usage
  • Video conferencing
  • Remote access to organizational computer system
  • Company provided laptop/tablets

As a video interviewing solution company, Montage provides the absolute BEST interactive technology for our employees. Montage regularly uses this technology to meet face-to-face with remotely working individuals for team meetings.

Employees are paid (under 24 hours per year) for work time they utilize to volunteer.

The following paid time-off (PTO) options are available to all employees at Montage:

  • Use of sick time for personal use or ill dependents
  • Take an extended career break for care giving or other family responsibilities - case-by-case basis
  • Bereavement time off for the passing of family or partners
  • Bereavement time off for the passing of pets - case-by-case basis
  • Time off during the workday to attend important personal needs
  • Return to work gradually after childbirth or adoption

Green DNA

While Montage does not qualify for the Green DNA Badge, it is still important to highlight the services Montage provides that directly contributes to the conservation of the environment. 

A word from Montage:

"The nature of our offering is to save companies from needlessly flying candidates in for day-long interviews prematurely. With hundreds of clients conducting thousands of interviews, we can calculate thousands of flights that did not happen, thousands of miles not driven."

Montage's primary purpose is to save companies their resources, time, and money accrued from traveling for conducting interviews. The video conferencing technology Montage provides shrinks a company's carbon footprint because of the number of miles saved from a potential candidate. The traveling expenses also reach the corporate level.

Montage's product has a direct positive contribution to their commitment to environmentally conscious efforts.

Our remote team is able to have face-to-face time with us every week, without ever stepping foot on a plane or in a car. Our sales members rarely fly as we're able to use our product to eliminate the travel needed to complete business transactions.

These responsibilities are rolled into several jobs, including our CEO, Director of Marketing, and Manager of HR.

Montage measures their commitments and achievements as they relate to their "green" policy.

We look at year over year adoption of our product and can equate those interviews to flights and travel mileage saved. With four times year over year growth, we have impacted the environment in a very positive way.

Energy conservation is part of Montage's mission statement, therefore the total amount of energy conserved is tracked and disclosed to the public.
